Ali is a Tax Partner in the Financial Services Group with BDO in Sydney.
Ali has over 17 years’ experience in providing tax consulting and advisory services to financial services organisations including life and general insurance companies. He has advised a range of financial services clients in dealing with business acquisitions, divestments, corporate restructuring and cross-border transactions.
He also assists clients with their tax compliance and reporting obligations including preparation and review of income tax returns, tax governance & tax risk management, and has extensive experience in successfully managing reviews and ATO audits of large businesses.
Ali joined BDO from a Big 4 firm. His client experience includes, life and general insurers, funds management, bank and non-bank lenders, payment and financial service providers, broking, securitisation, mutuals and friendly societies.
Ali presents regularly on tax issues for the financial service industry, including quarterly Tax Accounting & Regulatory updates. He attends industry consultation and will lobby on behalf of clients on industry issues. He is also author to the Australian chapter of the online IBFD Tax Research Platform: Mergers and Acquisitions.
