Ali is a Tax Partner in the Financial Services Group with BDO in Sydney. Ali has over 20 years’ experience in providing tax consulting and advisory services. He has advised a range of clients in the financial sector and specialises in working with insurance clients. He represents BDO and insurance clients at industry and regulatory forums, including with the ATO and treasury. Ali is the National Insurance Sector leader at BDO and provides services to insurance clients including dealing with business acquisitions, divestments, corporate restructuring, cross-border transactions, tax governance and tax risk management.
Ali presents regularly on tax issues for the financial service industry, including quarterly Tax Accounting & Regulatory updates. He attends industry consultation and will lobby on behalf of clients on Insurance industry issues. He is a Chartered Tax Advisor as well as a Solicitor and is NSW State Councillor at The Tax Institute. He is Federal Councillor of the FSAA and the author to the Australian chapter of the online IBFD Tax Research Platform: Mergers and Acquisitions.
