The General Insurance Accounting for Accounting Professionals course is designed for professional accountants who have worked in the insurance industry and who need a deeper understanding of general insurance accounting principles including statutory, management and regulatory reporting. The purpose of the course is to equip participants with an understanding of the general insurance industry, the practical application of accounting principles and statutory, management and regulatory reporting. This course is split into 6 modules and an assessment to check learning outcomes: Overview of the general insurance industry; General insurance liabilities valuation; Dynamic Financial Analysis, capital modelling, the use of reinsurance, premium rating and technical underwriting and the investment profile; Reporting under AASB 17 – Insurance Contracts; Management and performance reporting; Regulation of the insurance industry
The modules provide participants with an in depth understanding of general insurance accounting by reviewing the core elements of the insurance control cycle including the valuation of insurance liabilities, reporting under AASB 17 – Insurance Contracts, management and performance reporting and the regulation that is applicable to the industry.
