Hosted by KPMG, this presentation will provide an overview of AASB 17 from an actuarial perspective and highlight the key issues for general, life and health insurance. 

The Actuaries’ Institute AASB 17 Insurance Taskforce was set up in December 2016 in anticipation of the new insurance accounting standard.  The taskforce is chaired by Ian Laughlin, and includes a broad range of representation (General Insurance, Life insurance, Health insurance; Industry and Big Four accounting firms; New Zealand Society of Actuaries; APRA; and the Accountants and Actuaries Liaison Committee). 

The taskforce scope includes:

• Preparing technical guidance on applying the new standard.  The guidance is aimed at actuaries, but has broader relevance to users of actuaries work.
• Coordinating with third parties and other professional bodies.
• Communicating with the actuarial profession

Members of the taskforce will provide an overview of the standard from an actuarial perspective, and highlight the key issues for General, Life, and Health insurers.
