He is a chartered accountant and has been working in the Insurance industry for over 12 years (with 15 years in total in accounting and audit). He has spent the majority of his career in professional services providing assurance and advisory services to various parts of the insurance sector, including; general insurers, life insurers, brokers, and other intermediaries. He recently spent five years as a Director at Deloitte in Sydney, with the six years prior to this also in insurance external audit in the Netherlands and Bermuda. Stephen is a member and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Presenting Module 2, General Insurance liabilities valuation Harry is a Consultant based in Finity’s Sydney office. Harry has 6 years of experience working in the General Insurance consulting space. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) UK, and his experience includes Reserving, Capital Modelling and Pricing across both commercial and personal lines.
Presenting Module 3, Dynamic Financial Analysis Gokul is a Senior Consultant based in Finity’s Sydney office, with over 8 years of General Insurance Consulting experience. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) UK. Gokul’s experience ranges from reserving and capital modelling to catastrophe modelling and reinsurance optimisation. He has worked on client assignments in territories across the globe in UK, EU, India, North Africa, South East Asia, South America and Australia.
Presentng Module 3, Dynamic Financial Analysis Alvin is currently an Underwriter at Munich Re, responsible for the Property excess of loss and proportional treaties in the Australia and New Zealand market. He has over 8 years of experience in the reinsurance industry, across pricing, underwriting, reinsurance structure optimization and natural perils modelling, for both Property and Liability classes of business.
Presenting Module 4, Reporting under AASB 17 – Insurance Contracts David is a Manager in KPMG Australia’s CFO Advisory practice, supporting the IFRS Advisory Team as insurance specialist in Melbourne. He worked on the insurance project both at the AASB and the IASB before joining KPMG, and was involved in developing IFRS 17 at the latter. Before joining the Melbourne CFO Advisory’s IFRS & Deals team, David provided technical accounting advice to auditors as a member of KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice.
Modules 5 - Management and performance reporting Victor Walter is a qualified CA with over 30 years' experience. He is the recently retired Deputy CEO Corporate Services and CFO at National Disability Insurance Agency. Previously he was in the role of Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer of QBE Insurance Group Limited. He served as Chief Finance Officer for QBE Australia New Zealand from 2001 until he moved into his new role. Victor has been a member of the FSSA since 2001 and became President in 2009. He once again serves as Present and Secretary. Outside of his Insurance life Victor’s passion is Rowing where he is on the Board of NSW Rowing.
Presenting Module 6, Regulation of the Insurance Industry Kudzi is an accomplished and experienced Finance expert with vast exposure to challenging and complex functions, with a focus on commercial outcomes and team building. His experience is international, spanning from Zimbabwe in Southern Africa, United Kingdom, USA and Australia with most of it spent in Insurance and Investment management portfolios. He is a Chartered Accountant and a highly technical insurance accounting expert with a passion for sharing his knowledge and experience within teams he works in and with the Insurance Industry at large. Currently, he is a Head of Finance – Business Partnering at The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd. Outside work, he enjoys family time with his wife and children as well as playing soccer during the relevant season.
