Stephen Connors, FSAA / IAG

Welcome / Introductions  Stephen is currently working with IAG. He is a chartered accountant and has been working in the Insurance industry for over 12 years (with 15 years in total in accounting and audit). He has spent the majority of his career in professional services providing assurance and advisory services to various parts of the insurance sector, including; general insurers, life insurers, brokers, and other intermediaries. He recently spent five years as a Director at Deloitte in Sydney, with the six years prior to this also in insurance external audit in the Netherlands and Bermuda. Stephen is a member and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Melanie Chong, PwC

Presenting Module 1, Overview of the GI Industry - Melanie is a Senior Manager within PwC Australia's Financial Services Assurance division, offering over 13 years of experience in assurance and accounting advisory services. Her extensive expertise includes working with a diverse clientele in Australia and Switzerland, with a strong focus on the insurance sector. She has overseen numerous financial and regulatory audits for various insurance companies across both countries. Throughout her career, Melanie has been at the forefront of implementing and coordinating IFRS 17 audit procedures for insurance companies.

Harry Brown, Finity Consulting

Presenting Module 2, General Insurance liabilities valuation Harry is a Consultant based in Finity’s Sydney office. Harry has 6 years of experience working in the General Insurance consulting space. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) UK,  and his experience includes Reserving, Capital Modelling and Pricing across both commercial and personal lines.

Boban Gorgoski, Finity Consulting

Presenting Module 3, Dynamic Financial Analysis Boban is an experienced actuary at Finity Consulting with over 10  years of experience in the general insurance consulting. His current focus is actuarial valuations and capital modelling for general insurance and injury scheme clients.

Echo Huang, FIAA / Munich Re

Presentng Module 3, Dynamic Financial Analysis (RI)   Echo Huang is a Property Treaty Underwriter at Munich Re in Sydney, with over 20 years of experience across direct insurance, reinsurance broking, and reinsurance.  She has held pricing roles at Suncorp, Willis Re and JLT Re, and most recently worked in Munich Re’s Analytics & Innovation team, supporting data-driven decision making.  She brings a practical perspective on how reinsurance structures link to financial outcomes.

Jason Gordon, Deloitte

Presenting Module 4 - Reporting under AASB 17 - Insurance Contracts  Jason is a director in Deloitte’s Audit and Assurance practice with over 20 years of financial services experience, primarily in the life insurance industry. Prior to re-joining Deloitte in 2023, Jason worked in various roles at different Australian life insurers spanning pricing, valuation and risk management. Jason now currently supports the external and internal audit for Deloitte’s life, health and general insurance clients.

Lerissa Ramcharan, Deloitte

Presenting Module 4 - Reporting under AASB 17 - Insurance Contracts  Lerissa is a manager with over five years of experience in the financial services industry, specialising in the delivery of external audits for insurance clients. She has technical expertise across insurance accounting, including experience assessing complex processes and controls. She has over 5 years’ experience across the Deloitte South Africa and Australia firms delivering large-scale, complex audits.

Kudzi Tagwireyi, UniMutual

Presenting Module 5, Management Reporting  Kudzi is an accomplished and experienced Finance expert with vast exposure to challenging and complex functions, with a focus on commercial outcomes and team building. His experience is international, spanning from Zimbabwe in Southern Africa, United Kingdom, USA and Australia with most of it spent in Insurance and Investment management portfolios. He is a Chartered Accountant and a highly technical insurance accounting expert with a passion for sharing his knowledge and experience within teams he works in and with the Insurance Industry at large. He is CFO for Unimutual.  Outside work, he enjoys family time with his wife and children as well as playing soccer during the relevant season.

Graham Marshall, APRA

Presenting Module 6 - Regulation of the insurance industry Graham has been working for the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority for 25 years and is in his fifth decade in the financial services industry. Graham is a CPA with an interest in forensic accounting. With a strong background in insurance and banking, Graham has a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape and the challenges facing the industry.
