Paige Wilkinson, PwC

Presenting Introduction & Module 1 - Insurance Accounting  Paige is a Manager at PwC, based in Sydney, having spent six years working in the London office until commencing a secondment in Australia in September 2019. She is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Her career has predominantly involved external audits of insurance companies with a focus on the general insurance sector specifically. Outside of work Paige enjoys being outdoors, exploring new parts of the NSW coastline, and circuit training.

Andrew Reeves, KPMG

Presenting Module 2 - APRA Andrew was a Director of the FSAA and has been the Chair of the Education Committee for over 10 years. Andrew is a Partner at KPMG specialising in Insurance and Superannuation for over 30 years. Andrew is an APRA approved auditor and his roles at KPMG involve leading a wide range of regulated audits. Andrew has audited or consulted to most large Australian general insurers and reinsurers. Previous roles have included working as the General Manager Reinsurance for HIH (in liquidation). Andrew is a Life Member of the FSAA and has been actively involved in the education programme since 1995. Outside work Andrew is a Director of Studio ARTES, a disability services charity, and is married with 2 children.

Stephen Connors, QBE / FSAA

Module 3, Management Accounting Stephen is currently working with QBE. He is a chartered accountant and has been working in the Insurance industry for over 12 years (with 15 years in total in accounting and audit). He has spent the majority of his career in professional services providing assurance and advisory services to various parts of the insurance sector, including; general insurers, life insurers, brokers, and other intermediaries. He recently spent five years as a Director at Deloitte in Sydney, with the six years prior to this also in insurance external audit in the Netherlands and Bermuda. Stephen is a member and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Owen Tong, Deloitte

Presenting Module 4 - Liabilities & Implications  Owen is a manager in Deloitte’s actuarial practice in Sydney specialising in IFRS 17. He actively participates in various industry forums, modelling the IFRS 17 mechanics and using these results to discuss IFRS 17 interpretation issues. Prior to his role at Deloitte, Owen worked at QBE and Westpac where he was also heavily involved with IFRS 17, where one of his specific interests was to assess whether groups of contracts that have contract boundaries of greater than 12 months can still be measured under the Premium Allocation Approach (PAA).

Victor Walter, NDIA

Presenting Module 5 - Reinsurance  Victor Walter is a qualified CA with over 30 years' experience.  He is currently Deputy CEO Corporate Services and CFO at National Disability Insurance Agency.  Previously he was in the role of Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer of QBE Insurance Group Limited. He served as Chief Finance Officer for QBE Australia New Zealand from 2001 until he moved into his new role. Victor has been a member of the FSSA since 2001 and became President in 2009. He currently serves as Vice Present. Outside of his Insurance life Victor’s passion is Rowing where he is on the Board of NSW Rowing.

Gokul Chandrasekaran, Finity Consulting

Presenting Module 6 - Control Cycle   Gokul is a Senior Consultant based in Finity’s Sydney office, with over 8 years of General Insurance Consulting experience. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) UK. Gokul’s experience ranges from reserving and capital modelling to catastrophe modelling and reinsurance optimisation. He has worked on client assignments in territories across the globe in UK, EU, India, North Africa, South East Asia, South America and Australia.
