Michael O'Connor, Deloitte

Presenting Module 1, Insurance Accounting  Michael is a manager in Deloitte’s financial services practice. He is an ACA qualified account and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ireland. He has joined the Sydney practice in October 2017 having previously worked for the Deloitte Irish member firm since 2012.  His 6 years’ experience within Assurance and Advisory has predominately focused on the insurance industry, both life and non-life clients and working with regulatory and representative bodies.

Victor Walter, NDIA

Presenting Module 3 - Management Accounting  Victor Walter is a qualified CA with over 30 years' experience.  He is currently Deputy CEO Corporate Services and CFO at National Disability Insurance Agency.  Previously he was in the role of Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer of QBE Insurance Group Limited. He served as Chief Finance Officer for QBE Australia New Zealand from 2001 until he moved into his new role. Victor has been a member of the FSSA since 2001 and became President in 2009. He currently serves as Vice Present. Outside of his Insurance life Victor’s passion is Rowing where he is on the Board of NSW Rowing.

Brenan Fehon, Deloitte

Presenting Module 4, Liabilities & Implications  Brendan is the Delivery and Solutions Actuary within the Superannuation, Retirement and New Propositions team at TAL. He has 13 years of actuarial and professional services experience, across general insurance, life insurance and investments. Brendan is an Associate of the Actuaries Institute since 2016. Brendan has consulted to a number of insurers and reinsurers across a broad spectrum of issues including, liability valuations, capital management, pricing and statutory reporting. Brendan has been presenting the Liabilities module for the FSAA General Insurance Intermediate Course for the past 3 years.

Lisa Connolly, Munich Re

Presenting Module 5 - Reinsurance Lisa is a property treaty underwriter at Munich Re Sydney. She started her underwriting career at Gen Re Sydney in April 2016 after spending three years working as a senior accountant in their finance team. Lisa is an Chartered Accountant and has been member of the Institute of Charted Accountants Ireland since 2008. Prior to joining Gen Re Lisa worked as an auditor in both Deloitte Sydney and Dublin focusing on the re/insurance industry. Lisa completed this course as a participant in 2012 and is very excited to be back to share what she has learned since then.

Kushan Fozdar, Finity Consulting

Presenting Module 6 - Control Cycle  Kushan is a Consultant based in Finity’s Sydney office, with over 3 years of General Insurance Consulting experience. Kushan is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries Australia since 2018. During his career Kushan has consulted to a number of insurers on Appointed Actuary matters including outstanding claims and premium liability valuation, financial condition reporting, corporate planning and capital modelling.
