Sam has 18 years experience providing international tax advice, within large multinational groups and the Big 4. Having started his career in Melbourne focusing on M&A and Transaction Tax, Sam spent over 10 years in the UK where he worked predominately for AIG within their tax advisory function.
Melissa Gile is an Account Director in Deloitte’s International Tax group, specialising in advising ASX-listed companies and large multinationals, with a particular focus on the insurance sector. She provides guidance on a wide range of international tax matters, including Pillar Two readiness. Prior to joining Deloitte, Melissa built extensive corporate tax experience across the Big 4 and through senior roles within the ATO’s Public Groups and Law Design & Practice divisions.
Alex has over 25 years’ experience in advising on state taxes (including stamp duty and land tax) issues relating to mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructures, infrastructure privatisations, demergers and other corporate commercial matters. Alex brings a wealth of experience in dealing with revenue office audits and investigations in relation to the financial services and other industries.
Janette is a Manager in the State Taxes practice at PwC Australia. Janette has over 4 years’ experience in providing Australian stamp duty, insurance duty and land tax services to clients across a wide range of industries including financial services, infrastructure, retail, and real estate. Janette has a Bachelor of Laws and Commerce and is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.
Alex Chee is a Program Director at the Australian Taxation Office with more than a decade of experience across strategic and technical areas. He is currently part of the Insurance Strategy team, where he leads teams responsible for Reviews, Audits, and Advance Pricing Arrangements.
Anthony has extensive experience in all aspects of Australian GST advisory. Anthony is a specialist in providing technical GST advice for clients in all industries, with a particular focus on superannuation, insurance, financial services, funds management and property industry clients.
Rebecca is a Director in the KPMG GST team. She has more than twenty five years of indirect tax (VAT & GST) experience having worked for leading professional services firms in the UK and Australia. Rebecca also spent almost two years leading the in-house indirect tax team at an ASX 100 listed entity and so understands the need for practical tax advice, GST systems & processes, and tax governance frameworks.
Leon is a Partner in PwC's financial services tax practice in Sydney and has over 15 years of experience in the financial services sector with particular expertise in both the insurance and funds management industries. Leon has worked with a wide range of clients across the areas of tax compliance, advisory, ATO engagement and transactions. Further, Leon has extensive experience with respect to tax issues relevant to investments in a broad range of asset classes, including the tax issues associated with unlisted foreign investments.
Jessika Heynen-Brookes is a Partner in KPMG’s Financial Services tax practice in Sydney. Jessika has over 14 years’ experience advising a wide range of clients in the financial services sector on issues including investments and related tax compliance, ATO interactions, and the tax aspects of asset management products. Jessika’s experience includes a number of years in-house experience at Australian financial institutions, including leading the investment tax function at a large superannuation fund.
Priscilla Ratilal is a Partner in the Deloitte Australia Transfer Pricing team. She has over 19 years of transfer pricing experience across Sydney, New York and London. Priscilla specialises in advising on intra-group financing activities and serving clients in the financial services industry across the asset management, insurance, banking and fintech sectors. Priscilla’s client experience includes transfer pricing policy development and implementation, preparation of documentation, Country-by-Country reporting, mergers and acquisitions (due diligence and structuring) and engagement with tax authorities in the context of Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs), audits and reviews.
Michael Manser has 12 years of transfer pricing experience in Sydney and New York, advising multinational clients across financial services, energy, technology, life sciences, and consumer industries. He specialises in intercompany transactions and has extensive experience in documentation, policy development, and dispute resolution. Michael holds degrees in Engineering and Commerce, along with a Graduate Diploma in Taxation, from The University of Sydney.
Ben is a Director in Tax with BDO in Sydney. He has over 19 years' experience in providing specialist tax advice to both public and private companies as well as government organisations in respect of personal and employment taxes.
Mike Garrod is Head of Tax at Suncorp Group, overseeing tax governance, compliance, and strategic initiatives across Australia and New Zealand. He previously spent 13 years at QBE Insurance Group managing tax reporting, regulatory engagement, and international tax matters, and began his career at PwC advising on corporate and insurance tax issues.
With over 17 years of in-house tax experience, Corinne leads Tax Transformation and Operations with a focus on delivering optimal compliance solutions and driving strategic change. Known for challenging the status quo and uplifting aging processes, she is passionate about simplifying complexity and embedding sustainable improvements across the tax function.
Kate Swindon is the Centre of Excellence (COE) Lead for Tax Advice and Reporting for Resolution Life Australasia. The RLA global teams work remotely, with Australian Head Office in Sydney NSW. With deep expertise in regulatory compliance and tax operations, Katherine leads strategic initiatives that elevate reporting standards and operational efficiency across the organization.
Matt is a Partner within Deloitte’s Tax Operate team, specialising in tax transformation and tax function optimisation. With over 25 years’ tax and leadership experience, including roles as Head of Tax and Tax Managed Services Partner, he brings deep expertise in innovation, strategic tax management, and operational tax excellence.
