Presenting Module 2 - Insurance Terminology Helen Xu is Senior Manager – Actuarial at Railway & Transport Health Fund (rt), which is part of HCF, responsible for end-to-end actuarial practice for rt and Transport (rt’s subsidiary). Helen is an associate member of the Institute of Actuaries Australia and a CPA with more than 10 years’ experience in private health insurance in Australia. Previously, Helen was at Bupa for 8 years working on actuarial and other analytical areas, after migrating to Australia as a university lecturer and English Chinese translator.
Presenting Module 3 - The insurance cycle Lloyd is a Director in Deloitte’s Financial Services Audit team. He is a chartered accountant and has been working in the Financial Services industry for over 15 years (with 10 years in total in accounting and audit). He has spent the majority of his career focussed on the General Insurance sector, including the intermediated market and speciality insurance offerings within South Africa and Australia. Lloyd recently joined the Deloitte Sydney Office and is a member of the Audit and Assurance IFRS 17 implementation team.
Module 4 - Accounting Standards Framework and Accounting Standard 17, Insurance Contracts - David is a Manager in KPMG Australia’s CFO Advisory practice, supporting the IFRS Advisory Team as insurance specialist in Melbourne. He worked on the insurance project both at the AASB and the IASB before joining KPMG, and was involved in developing IFRS 17 at the latter. Before joining the Melbourne CFO Advisory’s IFRS & Deals team, David provided technical accounting advice to auditors as a member of KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice.
Presenting Module 5 - Management Reporting and Module 6 - Regulation of the insurance industry Tiffany Kiang is a Director, Finance at Pacific Life Re Australia responsible for financial planning and analysis across the Australia business. Tiffany is a qualified chartered accountant with over 15 years’ experience in the accounting industry, predominantly within the insurance and financial services sector. Previously, Tiffany was at BT Financial Group after spending 8 years at PwC working with a range of clients in Australia providing assurance and advisory services.
