Presenting Introduction and Purpose of Course - Stephen is currently working with IAG. He is a chartered accountant and has been working in the Insurance industry for over 12 years (with 15 years in total in accounting and audit). He has spent the majority of his career in professional services providing assurance and advisory services to various parts of the insurance sector, including; general insurers, life insurers, brokers, and other intermediaries. He recently spent five years as a Director at Deloitte in Sydney, with the six years prior to this also in insurance external audit in the Netherlands and Bermuda. Stephen is a member and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Presenting Module 2, Insurance Terminology & Module 3, The Insurance Cycle - Victor Walter is a qualified CA with over 30 years' experience. He is the recently retired Deputy CEO Corporate Services and CFO at National Disability Insurance Agency. Previously he was in the role of Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer of QBE Insurance Group Limited. He served as Chief Finance Officer for QBE Australia New Zealand from 2001 until he moved into his new role. Victor has been a member of the FSAA since 2001 and became President in 2009. He once again serves as Present and Secretary. Outside of his Insurance life Victor’s passion is Rowing where he is on the Board of NSW Rowing.
Presenting Module 4, Accounting Standards Framework and Accounting Standard 17 - Insurance Contracts - Nathalia Vieira Rodrigues do Vale Nathalia is a senior manager with over 8 years' experience at Deloitte. She has spent her career in professional services providing assurance and advisory services to various parts of the insurance sector, including; general insurers, life insurers, brokers, and other intermediaries. This includes auditing under A-IFRS, NZ-IFRS, ISA and PCAOB standards.
Presenting Module 5 - Management Reporting - Shingi is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years of experience in accounting and finance, currently working at Hollard Insurance Company. His expertise in the insurance industry spans statutory and regulatory capital reporting, finance systems and automation, and finance-focused project portfolio management. Shingi led Hollard’s transition to IFRS 17 navigating complex financial reporting, business process and regulatory change. Shingi has a commercial mindset and a strong focus on a collaborative approach, consistently partnering with stakeholders to improve financial outcomes. Shingi is an avid road cyclist and an active fundraiser with Tour de Cure, a non-profit organization supporting cancer research.
Presenting Modules 6, Regulation of the Insurance Industry - Gerard has more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry and his work experience includes time spent in Singapore and Hong Kong. Gerard joined Chubb via legacy companies more than two decades ago. In his current role, Gerard is Chubb's Chief Financial Officer for Australia and New Zealand with responsibility for overall finance management in Australia and New Zealand. Gerard overseas local statutory and regulatory compliance, financial control, internal and external reporting, reinsurance, treasury and investments, finance corporate governance and data and analytics. Gerard is a seasoned finance professional. He has a strong focus on building a positive culture in the organisation and a client service mentality for the Finance function. He enjoys building, leading and getting the best of individuals and teams with a participative management style. Gerard holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Masters of Business Administration Degree. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
