Introduction and Purpose of Course

Stephen is the CEO of the FSAA. He is a chartered accountant and has been working in the Insurance industry for over 12 years (with 15 years in total in accounting and audit). He has spent the majority of his career in professional services providing assurance and advisory services to various parts of the insurance sector. He recently spent five years as a Director at Deloitte in Sydney, with the six years prior to this also in insurance external audit in the Netherlands and Bermuda. Stephen is a member and graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Matthew Moore has worked in and around private health insurance for over 20 years in a number of strategic and operational roles including risk, IT, and senior executive roles.  He has a deep understanding of the regulatory and financial underpinnings of private health insurance businesses, and the way the health system functions within the Australian market.

Patrik Argyropoulos, Deloitte

Module 2: Reporting under AASB 17 - Insurance Contracts

Patrik Argyropoulos is a Manager in the Accounting and Reporting Assurance team at Deloitte in Melbourne. He is a Chartered Accountant with over seven years of experience in the profession, including just over five years in external audit working with large ASX-listed and private multinational groups.  Over the past two years, Patrik’s focus has been on providing IFRS and AASB advisory services in relation to complex transactions and financial reporting obligations. His work spans a diverse range of industries, including health insurance, superannuation, retail, construction, agribusiness and mining.

James Yap, Deloitte

Module 2: Reporting under AASB 17 - Insurance Contracts

James is an Associate Director in Deloitte Actuarial & Insurance Solutions, based in Sydney. He is a fully qualified Actuary with experience in general insurance and health insurance.  James has experience in the implementation, internal and external reviews of AASB17 over the past several years for private and public sector entities.

Nirosana Maheswaran is a consultant at Finity Consulting with over 10 years' experience in actuarial services across both health and general insurance. She has experience across reserving, capital, reinsurance and regulatory reporting.

Presenting Module 4:  Management and Performance Reporting - Anita Cvitkovic has extensive experience across finance, procurement and operations across a number of regulated industries.  She leads the Financial Planning & Analysis team at Teachers Health Insurance focussing on management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, business partnering and project financial management.

Finance Professional with 20 years' financial services experience spanning across life insurance, general insurance, private health insurance and superannuation. Skilled in Australian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), US GAAP, Financial Control, Financial Accounting, Risk Management, Auditing and Variance Analysis.
