Jojo Sampoonachot, Deloitte

Presenting Introduction and Module 1 - Insurance Accounting   JoJo is a Director in Deloitte Australia’s Assurance and Advisory practice. JoJo joined Deloitte in September 2016 after concluding a two year secondment with PwC Singapore. Prior to that, he served nine years in between the PwC Los Angeles and San Francisco offices. JoJo’s experience includes audits and regulatory audit support projects for clients ranging from multinational corporations to relatively smaller private entities. Having led audit engagements in Singapore and the United States (US), JoJo has experience serving clients reporting under IFRS, Singapore FRS, and US GAAP as well as the respective regulatory frameworks in those countries.

Victor Walter, QBE

Presenting Module 3 - Management Accounting Victor Walter is a qualified CA with over 30 years' experience.  He has recently moved into the role of Group Deputy Chief Financial Officer of QBE Insurance Group Limited.  He served as Chief Finance Officer for QBE Australia New Zealand from 2001 until he moved into his new role.  Victor has been a member of the FSSA since 2001 and became President in 2009. He currently serves as Vice Present. Outside of his Insurance life Victor’s passion is Rowing where he is on the Board of NSW Rowing.

Luke Cosh, PwC

Presenting Module 4, Liabilities & Implications   Luke Cosh is a qualified chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), with over 8 years of experience in accounting; providing assurance services for PwC within the London and Sydney insurance markets. Luke joined PwC in London as a graduate within the Financial Services assurance team in 2009, after completing a degree in Business Management at the University of Leeds. He moved to the PwC Sydney office in September 2013 and has since localised having been granted Permanent Reisdency in Australia. In addition to financial statement and other audit related services, Luke has worked on a range of insurance related projects across the industry, including regulatory reviews, implementation of new accounting standards and controls optimisation projects. Luke has worked on several assurance and related engagements across both the General and Life insurance industries, with some of his larger insurance clients including L&G, AXA and XL in London, and now QBE and Westpac in Sydney. Luke has been tutoring industry accounting and regulatory courses with the FSAA since 2016 and also has the pleasure of MC'ing the annual FSAA quiz night social event!

Ashka Shah, PwC

Presenting Module 4, Liabilities & Implications  Ashka Shah has around five years of experience in the actuarial field. She joined PwC in London as a graduate in the actuarial team in 2012, after completing her degree in Physics. She is now almost half way through a two year secondment to the PwC Sydney actuarial team (although open to considerations of extending this placement!) Ash is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, specialising in general insurance. She has worked on a range of insurance related projects, including valuations, ICAAP reviews and catastrophe modelling, as well as audit work. Her insurance clients in Australia include QBE, Zurich and XL.

Reg Campbell, Aon Benfield

Presenting Module 5 - Reinsurance  Reg Campbell has 45 years of insurance and reinsurance experience and is currently responsible for treaty placements, client management and regulatory issues at Aon Benfield. Prior to joining Aon Benfield in 2007, Reg spent 34 years with the Promina Group, where he worked in a number of senior claims and underwriting roles.  In 1993 Reg was appointed to the role of Reinsurance Manager for Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Australia Limited.  Reg has almost 25 years’ experience in the design and placement of reinsurance programs. During his career with the Promina Group, Reg managed the reinsurance department and controlled the purchase and administration of reinsurance programs. He has had extensive consultation and involvement with management, finance, claims and actuarial departments on all aspects of reinsurance placements.  In his role at Aon Benfield, Reg has been involved in the design and placement of reinsurance programs for Aon Benfield clients.    Reg has been actively involved in a number of industry seminars and training programs. He is a past Chairman of the ANZIIF Reinsurance Faculty Advisory Board and a past member of the NSW Branch Executive Committee of ANZIIF. Reg has also been involved in the organisation of ANZIIF Reinsurance Study Course for the last 10 years and is a current member of the RISC Committee.  Reg has been presenting the Reinsurance module for the FSAA General Insurance Intermediate Course for the past 2 years.

Wei Lin, Finity Consulting

Presenting Module 6 - Control Cycle  Wei is a Senior Consultant based in Finity’s Sydney office, with over 11 years of General Insurance Consulting experience.  Wei is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries Australia since 2008.  During his career Wei has consulted to a number of insurers on Appointed Actuary matters including outstanding claims and premium liability valuation, financial condition reporting, corporate planning and budgeting, capital modelling and forecasting, as well as providing training to insurers’ internal staff.  Wei also specialises in pricing and customer analytics for both personal and commercial line portfolios.
