Nicholas Scofield, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, joined Allianz Australia Affairs in 2003 and is responsible for Government Relations, Regulatory Affairs, Media and External Relations.
Before joining Allianz, Nicholas worked as an economic and public policy consultant at The Allen Consulting Group and prior to that spent 10 years with the Commonwealth Government in Canberra. As a Senior Economic Adviser in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet for eight years, Nicholas had policy responsibility at various times for Business Regulation, Competition Policy, Microeconomic Reform, Excise Taxation, Climate Change and Commonwealth-State Relations (including as the head of the Secretariat to the Council of Australian Governments). During this period, Nicholas was also Executive Assistant to the Secretary in 1996 and on the Republic Referendum Taskforce in 1999.
Nicholas commenced his career in government as an economist with the Productivity Commission in 1991 and was a professional guitarist from 1979 to 1990. Nicholas has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of New England, a Gradate Diploma in Public Economic Policy from the Australian National University and is a Jun Shihan (Associate Master and Teacher) of the Shakuhachi in the Chikuho Tradition.
